New Starter: Hamish MacDonald - Offshore Project Engineer

Buchan Offshore Wind is growing! We are delighted to welcome Hamish MacDonald as our new Offshore Project Engineer into the team. Hamish has got extensive experience within the sector - you can find out more about his career so far, and what he is excited about at Buchan Offshore Wind below:

Education

MEng in Aeronautical Engineering – University of Glasgow
PhD in Wind Energy Systems - University of Strathclyde

Previous Experience

Volunteer placement in Peru building and installing a small-scale wind turbine in remote mountainous community
Graduate design engineer at HW Energy
Project Engineer at Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult

Hobbies

Definitely a jack of all sports, master of none. Willing to give most things a try and as a result I have too much gear in the house. At the last count I own eight pairs of sports shoes!

What you are most excited about at Buchan Offshore Wind?

It's a fantastic opportunity to be directly involved in ScotWind. We're still at an early stage of development, so I'm looking forward to helping shape what the wind farm will look like and seeing the concept transform into something tangible.
