Buchan Offshore Wind Host Public Exhibitions

Buchan Offshore Wind Host Public Exhibitions

Buchan Offshore Wind is currently running its public consultation. As part of that, the team held three project exhibitions last week, inviting local communities and stakeholders based in the northeast to view the project plans and meet the development team.

Buchan Offshore Wind’s ScotWind project is located 75 km off the coast of Fraserburgh and will have up to 70 wind turbines generating around 1 GW of clean, green renewable energy. In addition, a new project substation will be established in the Peterhead area to bring energy from the turbines ashore via underground cables. This substation will be connected to the existing Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) transmission network.

The team had a fantastic three days across Peterhead, Fraserburgh and St Combs, getting to engage with the local communities and talk about the 1 GW floating offshore wind development.

Alasdair MacLeod, Project Director at Buchan Offshore Wind, shared his thoughts about the exhibition:

“It was great for our team to meet local community members during our three-day exhibition process in the northeast for our Buchan Offshore Wind project. Being a responsible developer, we value the opportunity to engage with local communities and stakeholders and we were able to gather important insights and feedback. We look forward to continuing to engage with stakeholders and support the local communities as the project progresses”.
